Aussie Tree Solutions Why Do Trees Need To Be Removed

Removing large trees may be deemed the necessary course of action for a number of reasons. Here are some of the most common:

  • The tree is sick, diseased or dying and at risk of falling over, posing potential threat to people and or property
  • The tree is too close to buildings, powerlines or other structures and poses a risk
  • Development or infrastructure changes
  • The tree itself or its roots are causing damage
  • The tree is too large for the space or is blocking access
  • The tree is impeding the enjoyment of your property

What To Do If You Need A Tree Removed

If you need to have a large tree removed from your property, you will first need to check the tree is not protected with your local council or that you need a permit or permission to do so.

It’s best to get several quotes as costs can vary significantly. Ensure your Arborist is fully insured so in the unlikely event something does go wrong, you’ll be covered. Don’t just take their word for it, ask to sight the current policy.

Your Arborist should also be qualified, experienced and able to comprehensively detail how exactly they are going to safely carry out the removal, mitigating risk of any damage. Your quote should be written and should clearly detail the entire process from start to finish with no hidden costs. The quote should also include clean-up of the site once the tree has been removed.

Cost Of Tree Removal

Aussie Tree Solutions How Arborists Safely Remove Large Trees In Brisbane

The cost of removing your large tree will depend on a number of factors. Using expert knowledge and experience, your Arborist will carry out an assessment and consider:

  • The size of the tree
  • The type of tree
  • The condition of the tree
  • Accessibility to the site and the tree itself
  • Proximity to structures, services and other trees

All of these things will determine how the tree will need to be removed, the degree of difficulty to remove it, the equipment and tools required to remove it and how long the job will take. Costs will vary in accordance with these factors, and can be anywhere from a couple of thousand dollars to many thousands of dollars.

How Do Arborists Safely Remove Large Trees?

Depending on all of the factors considered in their quotation, your Arborist will determine how they are going to remove your tree, and will use various specialist tools and pieces of equipment to carry out the removal in accordance.

If your tree is healthy and in good condition, they may be able to climb the tree using safety ropes, harnesses and spikes and gradually remove large limbs and pieces of the trunk using a chainsaw, lowering each section to the ground with ropes. If the site permits, they may choose to fell the tree, meaning they cut the tree at its base causing it to fall to the ground in one piece.  This is only an option if there is enough space around the tree to accommodate the full length of the trunk and width of the canopy.

Your Arborist may need to use a cherry picker or crane to safely access the tree and gradually remove sections, lowering them to the ground as they go. In some extreme cases the Arborist may even need to use a helicopter!

The sections of the tree will then be chipped using a woodchipper and turned into mulch. You will still have the stump of the tree left in the ground, so you may choose to have your Arborist use a stump grinder to remove it.

Each tree and site is unique, and your Arborist will determine the safest course of action to eliminate risk and potential damage.
